Sci-fi fans were pictured in their element at a dedicated ‘geek-centric’ meet-up. Scores of enthusiasts gathered at Komedia in Gardner Street, Brighton, for the Geek Central event on Saturday.
Visitors to the meeting swapped, bought and sold memorabilia including comic books, trading cars and figurines while sharing their passion for all things ‘geek’.
Characters from hit sci-fi film series Star Wars made an appearance at the event - including the evil Darth Vader and a pair of his trusty Storm Trooper guards.
Stall holder Richard Gladman, 39, from Brighton, said:
“I go to events all the time and for a small event like this in Brighton it was actually really packed with people.
There were lots of people through the doors and loads of different stalls for people to get involved in.”
Mr Gladman was pictured with his Space Monsters magazine – a retro monster movie magazine for fans of classic sci-fi, fantasy and scary monsters.
Komedia will be hosting Geek Central this August- This is Brighton’s first and only Geek-centric tabletop sale, shindig and swap meet!

They will be covering the entire spectrum of the Geek world from Anime to Zettabyte. There will also be dedicated play tables set up where you can get involved and learn to play something new, as well as Free to Play huge screen retro video games and even a DJ spinning the best in eight bit core and video game anthems.

Just when you thought it was safe to start acting straight, here comes another instalment of Brighton’s ‘geek-centric shindig and swap meet’ – arguably a cross between a retro museum, a social club and a game con. Featuring a tabletop sale of comics, models and anything else one might deign to collect, this all-day geek gathering also gives you the chance to play old school video games on huge screens, dance to DJs spinning 8-bit chiptune anthems and dress up as a Japanese Schoolgirl/Imperial Stormtrooper for a chance win a £300 prize in a cosplay competition. Awesome, as they say.
